Now that our long holidays are over… a piece of advice from some relatives and friends keep on bugging me and it is so hard to choose. Β Really it is not that easy!
How can you choose between the HOME you come to love and missing so much and the other ONE that is very similar in looks yet far different in characters, values,Β and life but family wait?
Yes perhaps some of you who come to really know both Countries will find it hard as well to choose like me. Β Both have their own merits and demerits. Β It is almost poles apart in geography and I find it is indeed CONFUSING and/orΒ COMPLICATED.
Perhaps I will wait until I get a sign from above?.. WISH.
NEW ZEALAND
SWITZERLAND
So now I leave you the quote below… Up to you if you agree. Β Feel free to give some nice comment and let me know how you well know these two beautiful Countries and which one will you choose and why?
β
Gros bisous.
Bernard

I would love to live in both. Having lived in the Middle East for 9 years, I’d feel so refreshed anywhere in the world. Lol.

Am lucky enough to have been to both of them and it would be a hard decision choosing between them. I’ve only been to NZ once even though I have family there (an uncle and a cousin). South Island especially round Queenstown had a Swiss feel with the mountains but the fjords were more like Norway (which I haven’t been to). We love Switzerland and have been there several times – it’s stunning and of course far nearer to other places than remote NZ! Both countries are so beautiful but so different culturally and linguistically of course. Plus I’ve only visited them and living in a place is a different matter altogether!

Yes you are right. Visiting is far different than living so I am a bit afraid to choose Switzerland, beside than learning a new language the culture is a bit stricter and “posh” than NZ haha! I know you get what I mean. π

Tough decision, especially if you have personal attachments to these countries. If I could choose and I don’t have any personal attachments to these countries, I will go to New Zealand…beautiful nature and I always want to see the Hobbiton in NZ π

Correct. I would love to go back to NZ anytime but my family commitments is to stay here in UAE at the moment and the other family waits in Switzerland.

How lucky you are that can choose between tow beautiful countries to visit. I have never been to any of them but if I were you, I would choose New Zealand for now becuase I love cold places and it is winter there now I think? hahaha. I know this won’t be a very helpful comment for your confusion, but still…
No matter which you choose, it wuold be a lovely journey.

Hi firstly thanks for the follow and commenting, appreciated and yes there are some more post in the pipeline. Second..actually Switzerland is much colder than NZ in winter π it is just their houses are better insulated than in NZ and that’s a fact that others don’t know yet unless they have lived in NZ winter. Yes, i am lucky to be able to choose 2 good countries but the confusion and guilt if I chose the other one is hard on the heart. π¦

I’m not knowledgeable on either country, but I had to comment about how your post struck a chord with me. I went through a situation slightly similar to yours, where it was necessary for me to make a decision to either live in a place that was my home and that I loved (Oregon), or move to a place similar in looks, but different in values and lifestyles (Ohio), but it happened to be where my family was concentrated. I ended up choosing the new setting to be with my family as I had previously been disconnected from them for two years. I also wanted to expand my horizons and see more of a state that I knew little about and live on the east coast of the U.S. I know I will return to Oregon in the future, but I will do so with an expanded state/nation/world view and with more reasons as to why I love Oregon the way that I do. I hope you enjoy your travels wherever you end up. You have two great paths before you!

Thanks so much for commenting and glad that you can relate to my dilemma. Yes it’s never easy to think that the place that I love is different to the place that my son will be better in life (perhaps). Anyway.. I am waiting for the sign from above π haha! Yes whatever Country I ended up with for sure will still be a good one. Will have some more post RE Switzerland from our 5wks holidays so pls. wait on it and hope to see you again commenting. Regards!

Yeah. I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who had to make this kind of decision. One of the things that helped me was sitting down and making a pro/con list. It actually helped as corny as it sounds. But no matter what helps you decide, I think you will enjoy each country for sure. And I’ll look out for your posts on Switzerland. My best friend is studying abroad in Austria currently so I’d love to pass on any cool sightseeing information to her.

I don’t know those places at all!! But they look like a dream – honestly. I would say to choose the one that holds the most memories but that will also help you to move forward. Good Memories can pick you up but we can not survive off of them. You have to make new ones!! Pick the place that most kind to you growing in everything you want to do!! Much love. USA

Bob Marley said something like this; that you can go anywhere in the world and feel at home, but when you return home there is no better feeling then being home
