This is in response to the Daily Post: GLITTER
True. Be careful what you wish for, for it may come true… it depends on who you are or who you will become to be when you get what you want in life. Some become greedy and want more. Some are just practical and just taking the opportunity as it comes and some just think that their life will never change be it good or “best” here in the land of opportunities. Come to think of it… this is not permanent.
Life as an expat here in the desert with full of black gold (Oil) can come as a fairy tale to many. From having lavish brunches, villas that look like a mansion, fast cars & so many benefits that included in salary package that you never had before back home.
Fame and fortune never stays for long. Beware… life is like a roller coaster, a Ferris wheel that goes up and down. Not all that glitters are gold as what the old saying goes.
Perhaps it is best to save some for rainy days.
Oh Dubai. You made me extra nostalgic with this post, Vinneve.
I keep in mind what your post’s main message is: to save for the rainy days.

I agree. I feel sad every time an expat goes back for good knowing there’s no business/investment done.

Is is also said, “a picture is worth a thousand words” but that doesn’t always mean they are true. Well written, the color in the photos definitely glittered.

Very wise 🙂 You make being an expat sound amazing but there are 2 sides to everything 🙂 PS I LOVE that umbrella photo 🙂

I rather dwell on the more positive “rich” sides of being an expat here besides this I also talk about saving for the rainy days. 🙂 Thanks some people commented on the umbrella and yes like the rest I love looking up what’s up there for photo shoot haha! Thanks for reading, appreciated.

Absolutely true. And I can see it to some people I know. We should be wise in all the decisions especially these days.

Great night photos Vinneve – the global village is lovely and I truly love the umbrella photo. I went to a wonderful restaurant in Beijing which had Chinese umbrellas on the roof; loved them too.
It’s called Tian Yi Di Jia and it’s in my post if you are interested of course: https://tangmengxiu.wordpress.com/2015/07/19/restaurants-in-beijing-prc-2011-2014/

Ah, we cannot bring all those material treasures where we eventually all going__ After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Correct but as I see it here… most expats lavish with so many luxuries but going home empty handed. Thanks for the comment. Hope I can see you again.

You know what they say: different strokes for different folks, whatever floats the boat and to each his own etc. Some people have other priorities and most have to sort out theirs.
